K-Pop group cignature discuss their latest release, 'Us in the Summer'

At the end of August, cignature made their comeback with their fourth EP, Us in the Summer. The EP delves into the experiences of girls during their youth, including aspects like love, relationships ending, and self-discovery.

Hallyu Doing had the privilege of joining a roundtable with the group to dive deeper into their latest release. We joined JEEWON, SEMI, CHAESOL, SELINE, CHLOE and DOHEE (cignature member BELLE is currently participating in SBS’ audition program Universe Ticket and is absent from this comeback). We spoke about cignature’s thoughts on ‘smooth sailing’ days and potential British collaborations.

"Us in the Summer": A Glimpse into Youthful Experiences

"'Us in the Summer' album is so precious as it is drawn with memories of hot and happy days that we can show you the refreshing feeling and bright energy of summer. More than anything, we will show the best stage by thinking of the fans who love us now and the fans who will love us in the future." - CHAESOL of cignature

The EP encapsulates the experiences of young girls during their formative years, exploring themes such as love, navigating the complexities of relationships, and embarking on a journey of self-discovery. SELINE added, "I'm sure you'll like this album more than I expected! In this album, we expressed a lot more with our feelings than before, but we didn't miss the refreshing feeling, so please listen to the album a lot!"

"Us in the Summer" features four new songs, each portraying distinct experiences encountered by girls during their youth. The narrative commences with "어젯밤 이야기(Mess With My Mind)," where the girls come together to discuss the complexities of love. Next is the title track, "안녕, 인사해(Smooth Sailing)," which narrates a story of a simple romance. Subsequently, "Sorry So Sorry" depicts the challenges of leaving a desired love due to overwhelming concerns. The EP culminates with "Little Me," an attempt to provide comfort to an anxious inner child. cignature takes listeners on a vivid journey through the ups and downs of youth, leaving a lasting impression with their unique blend of emotion and energy.

'Smooth Sailing' Days and British Collaborations

In a question and answer session, Hallyu Doing asked cignature about their perception of a ‘Smooth Sailing day’, and took the opportunity to ask about potential collaborations with British artists in the future.

Hallyu Doing: “As your new single is called ‘Smooth Sailing’, what would be your ideal ‘Smooth Sailing’ day?”

CHAESOL: “These days, I’ve started thinking that a day without problems is like a ‘Smooth Sailing’ day. Even if nothing big happens, finding little moments of happiness in everyday life can make it feel smooth.”

Hallyu Doing: “As Hallyu Doing is based in the UK, we’d love to hear which British singers would you love to collaborate with?”

JEEWON: “There are just so many great artists from the UK - we love all the artists. Are there any recommendations?”
